Health Insurance ratified,
98% say yes!

The 2008 Health Insurance was ratified on Friday by the members of UTD’s bargaining unit, with an overwhelming 98% of the voters approving the package. 

“This is a great victory for all of us,” UTD President Karen Aronowitz said.  "We can now move forward."

UTD and MDCPS representatives spent months battling over who would pay the increases in health insurance for the more than 40,000 bargaining unit members.

The School Board announced they would continue paying for the health insurance increases for the remainder of the 2008 calendar year, allowing for MDCPS employees to remain with the 2007 premiums and health plans in place.
