UTD spells out “Recommendations” to
District officials

UTD representatives presented MDCPS officials with dozens of contractual violations related to the Best Practices Recommendations that are being required at schools district wide.  UTD representatives also informed District officials that teachers were being intimidated and coerced into compliance.

The written examples provided by UTD showed that in some regions the abuses were worse than in others.  The District acknowledged miscommunication, mislabeling, and over-compliance issues, and agreed to take immediate corrective action.

The District has agreed to:

  • Contact specific school administrators on an individual basis to resolve the most egregious issues.
  • Contact specific Region Directors/Superintendents where violations were massive.
  • Brief all Region Superintendents on Tuesday’s meeting and detail those things that could no longer be required.
  • Present this information to all principals in a Webcast this week.
  • Send Thursday’s Weekly Briefing to all teachers and school support staff so they will be aware of those things that can no longer be required.
